Guatemala - Honduras - Nicaragua Combination Tour

The Mesoamerican regions attractions are vast and immense, our culture, history, nature and modern tourists facilities provide something that will appeal to everyone. Activities are vast, you can climb a volcano, hike in a cloudforest, visit ancient ruins, raft wide white water rapids and then finish off by diving on the world’s second largest reef, and this could be all within a few days.

Day 1: Guatemala City
Arrival at the Guatemala City airport, transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Guatemala City.

Day 2: Guatemala City – Antigua
Transfer to Antigua Guatemala. The earlier colonial capital of Central America, founded in 1543. We will visit the main buildings from the colonial times such as the Main Square, the Cathedral and other buildings and colonial spots. Overnight in Antigua.

Market in Chichicastenango - Guatemala Day 3: Chichicastenango –Lake Atitlan
Departure toward the highlands in Chichicas-tenango. Tour through the open-air market (Thursday and Sunday), where colourful handicrafts of the region are for sale. Enter the 400-year-old church of Santo Tomas, where catholic and pagan rites take place in a mystical atmosphere. In the afternoon we continue toward Lake Atitlan. Overnight in Panajachel.

Day 4: Lake Atitlan – Quetzaltenango
In the morning we will take a boat ride to the Tzutuhil town of Santiago Atitlan. This small town still keeps the Mayan traditions and culture. Then we will drive to Quetzaltenango. Overnight in Quetzaltenango

Day 5: Almolonga – Cotzumalguapa/Pacific Coast
Today we will tour the indigenous towns of Almolonga and Zunil very famous for its vegetables and flowers. Take a bath in the hot springs of Fuentes Georginas, a natural bath in a gorgeous atmosphere, before continuing through the pacific side to Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa. Overnight in Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa.

Copan - Honduras Day 6: Guatemala – Copan Ruinas
Drive through the Motagua valley towards Honduras. En route we will pass through the states of El Progreso and Zacapa in Guatemala. Stop in Rio Hondo to stretch and to purchase refreshments. After customs formalities transfer to Copan. Overnight in Copan.

Day 7: Archaeological Park of Copan
Today we will visit the legendary Archaeological Park of Copan, which consists of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchres. Enjoy the impressive 63-step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and masterfully carved Stella. In the afternoon we will visit Las Sepulturas, a residential and burial site of the Mayan nobles. Return to San Pedro Sula in the late afternoon.

Day 8: Botanical Garden – Tela
Transfer from San Pedro Sula to Tela. En route we visit the Lancetilla Botanical Garden. The United Fruit Company founded the gardens over 70 years ago as an experimental botanical site. Here you will find hardwood, medicinal and ornamental plants as well as tropical fruit trees from all over the world. You will see how the bamboo forest absorbs some 90% of the daylight, admire the long rows of majestic Royal Palms or try exotic fruits fresh from the tree An Orchid Garden and a Natural Reserve with a beautiful 1,200 hectares of virgin tropical rainforest make up this wonderful natural area. We then proceed to our hotel. Overnight in Tela.

Highlands - Guatemala Day 9: Punta Sal National Park
In the early morning we leave by boat to explore the impressive rock formations of Punta Sal. We visit the sheltered little bays, well hidden among the rocks, with palm fringed beaches and blue lagoons. We will take a brief forest hike. The rest of the time we are free to relax on the beach or swim and snorkel in the crystal clear water and explore the interesting marine life of the world's second largest Coral Reef, which comes close to the shore at Punta Sal. Overnight Tela.

Day 10: Lake Yojoa
Transfer to the Yojoa Lake. Due to it's elevation and geographical location, the lake attracts the greatest concentration of birds in the country, migrating birds from the North and South Ameri-can continents, as well as native species from the lowlands and the cloud forests visit the area periodically. About 400 of 700 species registered in Honduras live around this lake. Overnight in a nearby hotel.

Day 11: Cerro Azul Meambar – Tegucigalpa
Transfer to Tegucigalpa. En route we will visit the city of Comayagua, which was once the capital of Honduras. We will visit the cities colonial Cathedral and learn about the cities interesting history. After this tour we continue onto Tegucigalpa. Overnight in Tegucigalpa.

Day 12: Honduras – Nicaragua
Little is known about this land that straddles two oceans. The largest of the Central American countries it is often in world news, but we guarantee you will not leave without having Nicaragua teach you something new. Today we drive towards the Nicaraguan border passing Danli. After customs formalities we continue driving the Pan Americana road towards Selva Negra, near the city of Matagalpa. Selva Negra is a cloud forest located at more than 1,455 meters above sea level. Originally a coffee farm called Hammonia by its German settlers. The farm has turned into a protected forest. Overnight in Selva Negra.

Leon - Nicaragua Day 13: Nicaragua
Early in the morning we discuss the difficulty level and distance of the morning hike to be undertaken. Observe the magnificent flora and fauna. In the afternoon we will tour a coffee plantation visiting the old mill and ingenious systems. Overnight in Selva Negra.

Day 14: Nicaragua
After breakfast we drive towards Leon. Founded by the Spanish "Conquistadores" in 1524 at the bottom of the Momotombo Volcano, Leon was later relocated in 1610 due to constant earthquakes and volcanic eruptions to the north only 53 miles from actual Managua. Overnight in Leon.

Day 15: Nicaragua
We will visit Leon’s colonial buildings among them the Cathedral, a massive Christian monument. Inside there is buried the famous Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario. Through a scenic road bordering the Xolotlan Lake or lake of Managua with an impressive view of Momotombo and Momotombito volcanoes we will reach Nicaragua's capital Managua, which is the capital since 1852, its name comes from the Nahuatl language manahuac (big container of water), we take a brief city tour visiting the old Cathedral, the Ruben Dario Theatre and the recently restored National Palace. In the afternoon we continue to Granada. Overnight in Granada.

Day 16: Volcan Masaya National Park
City tour in Granada, visiting the colonial buildings. Then we continue to Masaya, a beautiful town with a colourful market, as well as the Masaya lagoon and its National Park. Highlight of the day is the visit of the active Volcano Masaya. We drive to the crater mirador Santiago, where we can walk to the very edge of the volcano and look all the way down to itsbottom. After this great experience we return to Granada for the night.

Day 17: Granada
Day tour to Ometepe Island, an incredible island located inside the lake of Nicaragua. It is formed by two volcanoes, Concepcion and Maderas. The Concepcion is a dormant volcano and the Maderas is extinct covered by a deep cloud forest. During the trip we can observe the rural life on the slopes of Concepcion Volcano. In the afternoon we take our boat back to Granada. Overnight in Granada.

Day 18: Managua
Today our magnificent tour comes to an end. After breakfast transfer to Managua international airport on time to connect to your departing flight.
