General Description

Glaciares National Park - Patagonia - Argentina A unique horseback riding experience across the Andes from Mendoza to Santiago de Chile riding on the footspets of the highest Andean summits

Itinerary

DAY 1:
Departure from the city of Mendoza in the aearly fternoon to Portinari Refuge to proceed with Chilean customs & migration procedures. Then we drive to the Scaravelli Mountain Refuge, where we meet the guides and the crew. Briefing equipment checking and overnight in campsite. (D)

DAY 2:
Transfer in a 4x4 vehicle close to the entrance of the Portillo Argentino pass that leads to the border with Chile. Assign horses, check saddles and start the ride descending towards the Tunuyan River Valley. Afternoon arrival at Real de la Cruz refuge where we set our camp. (BLD)

DAY 3:
Rest day. Optional activities: horse ride to Meson San Juan or short trek to the Tunuyan river bank. We need to rest and get acclimatized to the altitude. Overnight in campsite.(BLD)

DAY 4:
We saddle and start the ride crossing the Tunuyan river towards Real de la Oveja. Arrival to the Real and set up of our camp. (BLD)

DAY 5:
D day! We cross the Piuquenes Pass (4045m ) the international border with Chile. After the crossing we meet the chilean gauchos, we change horses and descend to the Plomo River where we set up our camp. This is an area of thermal baths where we all enjoy some relaxing time! Overnight in campsite.(BLD)

DAY 6:
Transfer to Santiago de Chile or back to Mendoza. (B)
