The Resort
Salamander Hideaway is located on the
island of Ambergris Caye, Belize, 11 miles
north of San Pedro town. Salamander is
set within its own bay, with the Caribbean
sea to the east and tropical jungle to the
west. The Belize Barrier Reef is within
swimming distance from the beach at
Salamander and offers some of the most
beautiful and untouched snorkelling and
dive sites on the island.
Salamander Hideaway has been established as an eco-centric
resort where every effort is made to harness the natural
resources available to them and to benefit and support the local
communities of Ambergris Caye and Belize. On the
environmental side of things, the resort is powered by a hybrid
system utilising both solar panels and a wind generator. There
is also rainwater collection systems which service the cabanas
and beach house.
A bar and restaurant is also available at
the Beach House, offering a mixture of
local and international foods and many of
the fresh fruits that are grown in the
Salamander gardens. The Beach House
has been designed, as with the cabanas,
to fit in with local building traditions. The bar and restaurant
have an open and relaxed feel and the lounge area is the
perfect space in which to read a book, chat or catch up with
friends and family on the internet.
