the 2 brothers - Fernando de Noronha - Brazil The archipelago of "Fernando de Noronha" consists of 21 small islands created over 10 million years ago by succesive volcanic eruption, lying 345 kilometres off the northeast coast of Brazil. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the archipelago breathes nature through every pore. In 1989 it was declared a National Marine Park. Native sub-tropical vegetation, secluded beaches and varied flora and fauna reward the visitor who undertake the trip to "Fernando de Noronha". The possibilities for scuba diving and snorkelling are excellent. Thousands of sea-turtles live here and although it is now prohibited to swim with the dolphins (the archipelago is home to the only school of 'stenella longirostis dolphins in the Atlantic Ocean), one can admire them from unspoilt beaches such as "Praia da Quixaba", "Praia do Leao", "Praia do Bode" "Praia do Boldro", "Praia do Atalaia", "Praia do Sancho" and "Praia da Conceicao" or simply diving. From the top of the "Morro do Pico" the visitors have a lovely view of the 21 islands. Environmental protection has top priority. For this reason it was forbidden to build high-rise hotels on the island, and living conditions are somewhat simple. On the other side, the charm of the island is kept. Visitors are obliged to pay an environmental protection tax. Because sea landing is difficult, the best way to visit the archipelago is by air. Although there are some cattle ranches and fishing boats, the cost of living on the archipelago is high since the inhabitants must flew in all goods from the mainland.

Praia Sancho - Fernando de Noronha - Brazil Accommodation

Accommodation is in pousadas (country inns) with rooms with private bathrooms, A/C or fans and breakfast. Some of them have a swimming pool. None of them is located nearby a beach but inside the village or on the hills. There are three kinds of Pousadas:
- One luxurious pousada, beautiful, rustic, very well located with first class service but extremelly expensive (around USD 400 per room per day without meals).
- 7 or 8 class A pousadas with large rooms or bungalows, cozy, some with swimming pool, lush gardens and ample common areas and enjoying nice views. Best class A pousadas are almost as best as the luxurious one and much more affordable.
the 2 brothers - Fernando de Noronha - Brazil - Tens of Class B pousadas. Most are simple family-owned guesthouses, usually their own house with 3 to 5 rooms for guests. A couple of them are in fact small hotels with more rooms. Rooms are comfortable with bathroom, common areas are small but some of them have a small pool. Almost all owners speak portuguese only. Some pousadas have a classic aspect but others are very picturesque and nicely decorated. We charge the same price for each of them as differences in their prices are rather small.

Accommodation is provided depending on availability. The sooner you book, the best guesthouse you will get in your category. We selected some of the best pousadas but we can only make any reservation once we have received your booking. Booking at least 5 months in advance is highly recommended if you want to be lodged in one of the best place of its category.
Activities

Each day you can easily undertake by yourself or with the help of the islanders:
- Gentle hikes around the main island discovering an incredible nature or the wonderful beaches of the archipelago, for yourself alone.
- To visit farther spots of the islands you can easily rent buggies or bikes and hire the service of a local guide
- Aquatic activities such as snorkelling, sailing are also available over there.

San Fernando de Noronha is a World Class diving destination due to its warm (28C) and clear (30 meters of visibility) waters as well as its wildlife. This is the home of dolphins, scores of turtles, rays, sharks and a great variety of reef fishes. There is a great shipwreck, the Ipiranga Corvet, 63 metres deep, and several dive spots in the deep drops surrounding the Islands.

Important Notice: Noronha Island environment is highly protected. There are no resorts or huge concrete hotels by the beaches. Unless you book a category A pousada, be prepared for simple accommodation. Houses and pousadas are scatterred throughout the islands and most streets are unpaved with little lights at night.

Prices below concerns first Category B pousadas and then Category A pousadas.
Prices for the ebst category A pousadas are still upon request and need to be booked long in advance.
