Ouro Preto, declared by Unesco a "World Heritage Site", is the cradle of the Baroque Period and the gold exploration era in Brazil. This historic city still preserves its mystery in its alleys bordered with beautiful colonial houses.
Serra do Cipo (Cipo Moutain Range), a magic and beautiful place, shelters several outstanding waterfalls within an exuberant ecosystem. In this region full of old stories dating from the colonial period, you enjoy the good typical food as well as the traditional hospitality of locals.

Minas Gerais - Brazil Day 1: Belo Horizonte - Tiradentes
Upon your arrival at Belo Horizonte Airport, we drive to Tiradentes, a beautiful historical town in Minas Gerais State, also known for its lively arts. We enjoy the typical Mineiro food in one of the many authentic restaurants of the city. In the afternoon, we walk through the historical center and visit the most important sites such as the baroque churches. (BL)

Day 2: Tiradentes / Ouro Preto
Free morning to enjoy leisurely walks through the old streets of Tiradentes or do some shopping. After lunch, we leave for a 2 and a half hours drive to Ouro Preto, an incredibly beautiful town of cobblestone streets winding up and down hills all crowned by churches and chapels. (BL)

Day 3: Ouro Preto
After breakfast, we have a guided tour of Ouro Preto to explore its history, culture and beauty. After having lunch in a typical restaurant, we visit the Inconfidentes Museum. (BL) Cipo MR - Minas Gerais  - Brazil

Day 4: Ouro Preto - Mariana
Free morning to enjoy a walk or do some shopping for arts and crafts. After lunch, we head to the village of Mariana to explore an old flooded gold mine. We descend with strollers to the old dark entrance of the mine. We drive back to Ouro Preto in the end of the afternoon. (BL)

Day 5: Ouro Preto - Cipo Mountain Range - Kayaking
Early in the morning we continue our expedition to Serra do Cipo National Park. We take a dirt road to get there and have a real sense of the Minas Gerais State. After checking in at our lodge, we board our kayaks and paddle on the calm and clean waters of the Cipo River, home of a very preserved flora and fauna. We have the opportunity to see capybaras (world's biggest rodents) in large groups on the sides of the river, as well as many birds. (BL) Minas Gerais - Brazil

Day 6:Cipo Mountain Range - hiking - Jeep-Safari
We start the day by a jeep safari in the Serra do Cipo National Park Area. We visit the Cipo Velho farm from where the first settlers started the occupation of the area. We then go to the national park visitor center and learn everything about the biology and geology of the national park. After having our trail lunch, we continue to the high section of the Park, where we discover the rocky fields and a special sub system of the Cerrado environment, full of biodiversity and one of the richest floras of the world. We have the refreshing opportunitye to swim into the Cornelio Waterfall, a 30 meter (90 feet) high waterfall with a huge pool, ideal for a refreshing dive. (BL)

Day 7: Cipo Mountain Range
After breakfast, we put on our hiking shoes and start hiking to the beautiful Gaviao and Andorinhas Waterfalls, two of the many waterfalls of the Cipo Mountain Range National Park. We spend the day relaxing and enjoying the dark waters from the Cipo River springs. (BL)

Day 8: Cipo Mountain Range / Belo Horizonte
After breakfast, transfer to Belo Horizonte Airport for your flight out.(B)

Note that on day 1, you should early in the morning in Belo Horizonte. If you do not, it is best to arrive one day earlier to fully enjoy the first day (at extra cost, around $80 per person)
