Paraty

"Brazil"

Paraty - Brazil Paraty, one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the world breathes an extremely romantic and magical atmosphere. Protected by the Unesco, it is considered as the most architectonic gathering of Brazil; gas lights, well preserved colonial houses, winding streets, gardens, backyards and flowery balconies are all of them a permanent invitation to dream. Its native name "Parati-i" means White Fish. Its history begins in the early 1530s and is full of tales about gold, pirates, love and mystery. Paraty harbour, the second most important harbour in Brazil during the 17th and 18th centuries was built exclusively to export gold from Minas Gerais to Portugal and was the centre of slave trade in Southern Brazil. By the end of the "Gold Era", Paraty turned to the Sugar Cane Culture, and nowadays almost 250 mills produce top class quality "pinga", Brazilian's most popular spirit, like it used to be made in the good old days.
After two nights in Rio or at the end of your holidays into Brazil, Paraty is an ideal destination where you enjoy marvellous isolated beaches, tropical islands and splendid waterfalls with in the backdrop lush hills covered by the last stretches of Atlantic Rainforest. The romantic atmosphere of the old town makes it the perfect spot for couples or honeymooners.
