
The Atacama Desert, in Northern Chile, is the driest place on
earth. The desert is so dramatic that, at first sight, it appears
never to have sustained any life. Splendid walks show us the deep visage of
the desert and reveal its most intimate secrets surrounded by the tranquillity and beauty only offered by trekking.
Unforgettable hikes in deep canyons, sand dunes, along rivers, on volcanic rocks and into salt flats

DAY 1: San Pedro de Atacama
Reception at Calama airport and transfer to the picturesque village of San Pedro de Atacama.
Afternoon hike along the Cordillera de la Sal up to the Moon Valley, an
extraordinary mineral site at the sunset. Overnight in hotel. (L)
DAY 2: San Bartolo
Visit of the etnographic museum, the pre-Inca fortress of Quitor and the
archaeological site of Catarpe. Then, we start to hike along a beautiful canyon
which leads us to the village of San Bartolo where we set up our camp (BLD)
DAY 3: Rio Grande
Trekking to the native village of Rio Grande native where we set up the camp.

DAY 4: Machuca
Todsay, this is a 6 hour trek up the Altiplano to Machuca Village. Overnight in camp (BLD)
DAY 5: Purifica River - Tatio Geysers
Drive to the shores of Purifica River. We then trek up along a canyon to
the hot springs of Purifica River, where we enjoy a relaxing bath before continuing
to the Geysers del Tatio (4500 mts / 14,754 ft). Overnight in camp (BLD)
DAY 6: Caspana
We watch the geological thermal activities of the geysers as the sun
rises in a magical game of lights and shadows. We trek down to lower
altitudes to reach Caspana Village where our vehicles await us to drive us back
to San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight in hotel (BL)
DAY 7: Tilomonte Oasis - Atacama Salt Lake
Drive to Tilomonte Oasis, visiting on the way Toconao, Jerez Valley and Atacama Salt Lake,
one of the driest parts of the world where it is possible to observe pink flamingos.
Trekking along an ancient Inca trail to Pastor with nice views on the Salar de Atacama.

DAY 8: Miniques and Miscanti Lakes
We visit Tulan archeological site and Peine Village. We drive on to the altiplano and visit
Socaire before arriving to Miniques and Miscanti Lakes where we set our camp (4100 mts / 13,450 ft). (BLD)
DAY 9: Lejia Lake
Trekking on the altiplano along Miscanti Lagoon overlooked by Chiliques
and Lena Volcanoes. We soon reach the Lejia Lagoon, a beautiful lake at the foot of the
active Lascar Volcano. Overnight in Camp (4250 mts / 13,950 ft). (BLD)
DAY 10: Lascar
Short drive to reach Lascar Pass (4500 mts / 14,750 ft ) and climb of Lascar Volcano.
After having tasted the feeling of success we drive back down to San Pedro de Atacama.

DAY 11: San Pedro de Atacama
Morning at leisure and transfer to Calama airport. (B)
