Chile's southern Region is a land of incredible contrasts - continental ice bordering
luxuriant forests and valley with warm climates, deep fjords and fortress-like cliffs where the
air current lift condors and eagles in flight. The temperate rainforest is a concentration of lush vegetation
that shelters an enormous variety of birds that have almost no fear of human presence.
Located in the beautiful Ventisquero Sound, the Termas de Puyuhuapi Lodge emerges in
complete harmony with the landscape. It offers healthful thermal waters facilities for your health and pleasure, and is
the departure point for exciting excursions through the rainforest, to the hanging glacier in Queulat National Park or to the impressive
San Rafael Glacier set deep into the Andean Fjords. You can also kayak your way through island-filled channels in search of sea mammals or take advantage
of exceptional fly fishing.
DAY 1:
Depart Puerto Montt by Catamaran for a 4 hour navigation to Chaiten where
the Termas de Puyuhuapi guide welcomes you and drive you to the Hotel
Termas de Puyuhuapi & Spa (4 hours). En route, we stop to enjoy a quick snack or
box lunch, weather permitting, at a spot of spectacular beauty where
the Frio and Palena rivers unite. We then continue our journey along
the Austral road for another 83 Km
(50 miles) to Puyuhuapi. This route has only been open for a few
years, uniting at last this part of the country with the
rest of Chile. We travel through
unspoiled countryside that are
declared a
World Biosphere Reserve. Once in Puyuhuapi, we
go for a 15 minute boat ride which leaves us at the Hotel Termas de
Puyuhuapi & Spa.(LD)
DAY 2:
Morning free to enjoy the hotel's comfortable facilities and to enjoy
the open air thermal pools. The spectacular spa is at your disposal,
including a large hydro-massage pool, Jacuzzis with hot seawater
or with thermal waters at pleasant temperatures, a steam shower
or river water shower that give you your deserved relaxation.
In the afternoon, we invite you to take a walk through the
lush and spectacular
rainforest, identifying the local flora. (B L D).
DAY 3:
In the early morning, you may accompany us to haul in the nets where we usually
catch conger eels, robalo and other fish. At 10.15 AM we visit Puerto
Puyuhuapi, and particularly its hand made carpet factory. Then we
head to
Queulat National Park where, weather permitting, we
admire the impressive
hanging glacier. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
You may hire a motor- or rowing boat, kayak, canoe, windsurf or
water-skis or try your luck fishing.(B L D).
DAY 4:
Early morning departure by boat, then driving along the Austral Highway
to Coyhaique where we stop for lunch. Afternoon transfer to Balmaceda where you board your
departure flight to Puerto Montt. Arrival in Puerto Montt at
approximately 06.15 PM (B).
