Whitewater Kayaking in the Lake District
"Chile"
Chile is one of the best areas in the world for white water. The Lake District of Chile contains a series of crystalline, pristine, underdeveloped lakes, interconnected
by some of the world's finest white water and surrounded by majestic volcanic peaks. If you enjoy big waves, challenging white water, but may not feel like running class V while on vacation,
then this class III-IV journey is for you. There is a lot of big water, class III and IV.
DAY 1:
We meet you at Temuco and drive to the touristic town of Pucon. Overnight at Pucon.
DAY 2:
A 15 minutes shuttle brings us to the beautiful Trancura river, a classic run for rafting companies in Tucon. The lower Trancura is a class II river with a couple of class III+
rapids (El Pescador and El Murallon). This is the perfect warm up to stretch the winter muscles as we surf the waves, catch eddies and settle into our boats.
The put is a perfect place to practice rolls before heading downstream through the scenic river valley. Before heading back to Pucon for the night, we drive to Huife Hot Springs for a hot bath to recover from
that first day (B L).
DAY 3:
An exciting and action packed day, as we will run the upper section of the Trancura River, a class IV run, including the
Salto Chico, Puerta del Infierno, Salto Feo and Problema del Diablo, a class IV+ that can be portaged. We run the lower Trancura again and take out
at Balseo. Overnight at Pucon (B L).
DAY 4:
We drive south to Choshuenco, our base camp for the next days, where we stay in a small inn. In the afternoon, we paddle the
lower section of the river Fuy, a nice class II (B L D).
DAY 5:
Today we run the middle Fuy. This class IV section starts with a bang. The run takes us through a boulder-strewn riverbed, with countless
eddies to catch and holes to surf. After the run, we drive to Panguipulli, where we spent the next two nights (B L).
DAY 6:
We run the Rio San Pedro and enjoy the demanding white water. Clean routes lead to fun play waves on the big class III+ and IV run. Farewell dinner and
overnight in Panguipulli (B L D).
DAY 7:
In the morning, we drive you to Temuco airport or bus terminal (B).
