Monteverde Birds & Greenery

"Costa Rica"

Monteverde Cloud Forest - Costa Rica Monteverde is a community and biological reserve, administered by the Tropical Science Centre in San Jose. For nature lovers it is a major destination. Monteverde is just below the cloud forest, far from the tropical heat. The reserve covers the upper slopes on both sides of the continental divide. Many rare species, including the golden toad, the quetzal and the three-wattled bellbird are amongst the several forest zones that make up Monteverde. The cloud forest stretches from the lush ferns and mosses that cover the tallest trees, Vines and weblike mosses hang down and swing slowly in the breeze. Some of the trees look top-heavy because their branches are so densely enveloped with epiphytes and moss.
