Tortuguero National Park protects a unique series of natural inland waterways that are home to freshwater
turtles, crocodiles, sloths, howler, spider and colorado monkeys, toucans, parrots,
morpho butterflies and many more. In addition, it is known as one of the world's
richest fishing grounds for tarpon and snook (pike).
Tortuguero is the largest nesting area in the Caribbean for the green sea turtle. They
return to Tortuguero every two to four years to mate offshore and dig their
nests. Although their feeding grounds are as far away as Florida and Venezuela,
none of the 26.000 tagged turtles has ever been found to mate at any other beach. Green
turtle nesting season is from July through September. The leatherbacks usually nest
in May and June, but usually, you can see nesting turtles at anytime of the year.
The Itinerary
Day 1:
Early in the morning, we meet you at the lobby of the hotel and drive you to
Tortuguero area. Along the way, you admire the bio diversity of an astonishing
protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park, a
primary forest in 95% of its extension. Have a taste of our delicious Costa
Rican breakfast en route. Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the
port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel
along the Tortuguero Canals. Experience a once in a lifetime experience in
this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of
breathtaking beauty. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail, and a delicious lunch
as we welcome you to Pachira Lodge. After lunch, we visit the museum, the
beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero. A delightful
dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge. Overnight at Pachira Lodge.

Day 2:
Optional Morning Tour: Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a
journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best shots of a real
Caribbean sunrise. Have a delicious breakfast at Pachira Lodge and get
ready to hike Tortuguero Hill or trail along the well known Tortuguero
Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of
magnificent flora and fauna. Take your time to enjoy our private trails,
ride a boat through the canals or just relax.
Optional Nesting Tour*: walk on the beach and admire the green
turtles nesting (July through September).

Day 3:
After a delicious breakfast at Pachira Lodge, it is time to go back to San
