Ecuador's mountains are one of its greatest attractions and outrageously easy access makes Ecuador
a fantastic place to get some high altitude climbing experience. There are 10 mountains over 5000 metres
high, of which nine have glaciers, with routes ranging from easy snow-plods to hard and technical routes.
We offer you the opportunity to climb each of its giants on its own in 2 or 3 days. Enjoy the
marvels of ice and snow climbing on the beautiful mountains in the middle of the world:
Antisana Volcano (5704 m)
Cayambe Volcano (5790 m)
Chimborazo (6310 m)
Cotopaxi Volcano (5897 m)
El Altar (5319 m)
North Illiniza (5116 m)
South Illiniza (5305 m)
Sincholagua (4898 m)
Each of these mountains is beautiful, but above all exotic. Fight
tropical vegetation, stroll up a glacier and look down the crater of a live volcano on the same climb!
Example Itinerary Cotopaxi - 2 days
Day 1:
From Quito drive south to the Cotopaxi National Park. After visiting the Limpiopungo Lagoon our transport will take us to the parking lot of the Cotopaxi Volcano, from there a 1-hour trek will take us the Rivas Hut located in the northwestern side of one the highest active volcanoes in the world. In the afternoon practices in the closest glaciers. Overnight in the Hut (4800 m). (BL, D)
Day 2:
At midnight, and after a hearty breakfast stars the climb to the summit of Cotopaxi Volcano (5897 m). After reaching the summit and enjoying magnificent views of impressive crater and of the closest mountains, return to the refuge and the parking lot. Transport back to Quito. (B, BL)
