The Resort
The Red Mangrove Adventure Inn is an intimate, relaxing, and unique ecological paradise. It is our pleasure to present You the only Galapagos hotel {Puerto Ayora} that was built in the middle of magical and captivating red mangrove right on academy bay.
The Red Mangrove Inn is one of the unique places on earth where beauty,
tranquility and ambiance merge. This Galapagos hotel is situated in a grove of wild red mangrove perched on the
edge of the blue sea, the Inn is peacefully removed from the hustle and bustle of
town, yet only a stone's throw from the Charles Darwin Station and downtown
Puerto Ayora.
Step through the entrance of the Red Mangrove Inn and you will feel that you have entered a realm of magic and imagination last seen in childhood.
Charmed with lanters of a translucent bark, the entrance walkway brings you through a canopy of red mangroves. There, though only feet from Puerto Ayora, its is not unlikely to see a Yellow-crowned Night Heron.
Upon entering the inn itself, you will find rooms decorated with an artist's touch. Tastefully exposed wooden beams and pleasingly tiled bathrooms lie within white rooms that reflect the sun as it shines in from across the sea.
Guests typically start their day on the Inn's waterfront terrace, often
in the company of sun-basking marine iguanas, scuttling Sally Lightfoot crabs and
soaring Frigate birds.
Following breakfast, an array of activities can be enjoyed such as 4x4 jeep tours
in the highlands, horseback riding, mountain biking, bay tours, kayaking, or just
relaxing on the terrace with the sun, the sea, and salty-fresh island breeze.
The Accommodation
Ten spacious, creatively-decorated rooms and suites--each carrying a color-theme--offer you the finest of accommodations in a private bungalow nestled among red mangrove trees.
The Inn can accommodate up to 38 guests in 3 double rooms, 2 triple rooms, 2
rooms for four people, 2 rooms for 5 people, and 1 room for 8 people. The
majority of rooms have ocean views and all of them have private bathrooms and
ceiling fans.
The ten rooms have built-in platform beds (multiple beds in some), terra-cotta tile or wooden floors and functional bathrooms that seem hand-carved from rock. All rooms provide wireless internet access.
Facilities
A small pool, a meeting area with plush tables and chairs, a common room with television, and plenty of hammocks for lounging. The inn also has its own boutique, which sells artistic goods and organic coffee, and an amazing sushi restaurant/bar. The Red Mangrove Adventure Inn will guarantee a truly individual and unforgettable experience.
Activities
The inn also coordinates a variety of tours, including camping, sea kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding. As such, it offers excellent, custom-tailored alternatives to pre-arranged tours. Please enquire for prices of these activities.
"Mountain Tour"
We shall take you to the island's highlands, to the 'twin craters' - geological depressions which will make you feel nature's majestic power. Walking through a native forest, teaming with endemic plants and land birds, you will discover Galapagos' highlands' great biodiversity. Passing through an illuminated lava tunnel, where you will appreciate the formation of stalactites, stalagmites and sulphur coloured walls.
Walk through tortoise paradise, were these gentle giants silently roam, impervious to the passing of the centuries.
Departure from Puerto Ayora at 10:30 a.m. Return to Puerto Ayora at 4:00 p.m.
"Mountain-Biking"
Our quality mountain bikes allow you to explore the back roads of the colonised areas of Santa Cruz's highlands. Visit farmers who live in a world of peace and tranquillity, and stop along the way to sample some of the local fruit, right off the trees.
Endemic vegetation, lava tunnels, birds and tortoises.
"Horseback-Riding"
The horses we ride are direct descendants of a group of pure-bred animals brought to the island by an American colonist, prior to Galapagos becoming a national park. These horses have since lost their purity, adapting to the rugged volcanic landscape, thus allowing you a safe ride through some of the most beautiful regions of our islands.
Enjoy our farms, fruit, tortoises and birds.
"Sea Kayaking Tour"
Our ocean kayaks offer you the chance to explore hidden water inlets and snorkel with playful sea lions and turtles, or watch the harmless white-tip sharks cruising just below you - you will feel you are part of the marine ecosystem.
We invite you to enjoy a great snorkelling experience.
"Bay Tour"
Our fully equipped boat will take you from the hotel's own dock to "Loberia" island - named after its large colony of sea-lions (lobos) - about 10 minutes away. This small island is a great place to snorkel in amongst sea turtles and a great variety of colourful fish, and for playing with the ever-friendly and inquisitive sea lions.
The next destination will be "Lover's Tunnel", which has a great viewpoint from where you can watch resting white-tip sharks.
From there we return to the boat and sail to Punta Estrada's dock, where we'll go on a walk to watch marine iguanas living on the so-called "Dogs' Beach", before finally returning to the hotel.
"Fishing Tour"
Daily Fishing trips are available from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., or from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Our boat is equipped with 2 professional fishing-rods. A 10 minute boat ride will take you to shallow waters, where Wahoo, Tuna and Dorado is likely to be caught.
"Day tours to other islands"
Plazas, Bartolome, Seymour, Santa Fee as well as combination day trips to Seymour and Plazas, Plazas and Punta Carrion, Seymour and Bachas can be organised onboard the day yachts MSV Santa Fe II, Esmeraldas and Nortada.
"Night of Camping (Available from October - July)"
Complete silence, beautiful scenery…a place were the great land tortoise shares the grazing with cattle and horses…a magic cave…a toast to millions of stars in the sky. We will transport you on our 4x4 jeep to a place where you will forget civilisation, breathe deeply, and float on passing clouds. Hike to the volcanoes of Galapagos, stand on the rim and feel the beginning of the world.
Magic Cave, fireplaces, welcome cocktail, dinner, breakfast. The tents are fully equipped with
mattresses and sheets, fresh water, electricity. Camping with us, is like sleeping in a good hotel room. Please reserve your
night of camping before arriving to Galapagos.
Departure from Pto. Ayora 4p.m. Return to Pto. Ayora 9 a.m. next day.
