To make a long story short, the trip exceeded all expectations, and was truly excellent.

Dear Danielle
To be honest my first impressions were not good. The rooms seemed shabby and drab, the towels were frayed and stained and the room had a faint smell. However as the week progressed both my friend and I grew to love the place and had a great time. What was lacking in 'finish' and quality of the rooms and communal areas was more than compensated for by the friendliness of the staff and the relaxed informality of the resort. There was a rustic easy going charm and I was sorry to leave. The diving was superb and the island beautiful. The food lacked variety but was good though my friend had a harder time as he is vegetarian.
Having said that I went on the a Hotel in Key West and was pleased to be in more comfortable surroundings - soft clean towels, fresh bed linen and comfortable furniture etc. - but you can't have everything - Key West was too commercial for my tastes. I hope tourism doesn't spoil the charm and tranquillity of Roatan. [ I already consider as too touristic and other islands of the archipelago are more out of beaten tracks]
