The Resort

The End of the World Resort is a tropical island getaway for those who want to travel "off the beaten path" and experience one of the few remaining unspoiled islands in the Caribbean. At the End of the World Resort there are no jangling phones, no traffic noise, no nightly news broadcasts. Instead, you'll find the gentle lap of the ocean, the rustle of palm fronds in the breeze, and the laughter of friends. Located at latitude 16.29 N longitude 85. 54 W The End of the World Resort has a wonderful climate, cool breezes, white sand beaches and crystal clear blue waters waiting for you to enjoy. In the evening, relax and watch the sunset as dusk turns to night while oil filled tiki torches glow softly under the star filled skies. From the pages of Robinson Crusoe's adventure, Guanaja Island has something few destinations can offer. If you want to escape to natural beauty, luxury and nothingness and don't mind stepping back in time, a new beginning may be the means to an end.

Resort amenities include a beachfront restaurant, tiki bar, dive shop/diver training facility, private mooring dock, fishing charters, water sport rentals, and a 2-story clubhouse with breath-taking sunsets... providing a level of comfort you might not expect in one of the Caribbean's last unspoiled islands.

The Accommodation

The bedrooms in the cabanas are decorated with native stone masks and local artefacts. All have private bathrooms and outside deck areas. The fresh sea breezes and forest shade provide natural air conditioning and a clear cascading waterfall provides the mountainside cabanas with the sweetest drinking water you have ever tasted. From the cabanas panoramic ocean views are breathtaking and certainly one of the most romantic in the world.

Activities

Relaxation:
Relax in a beach side hammock and enjoy one of our world famous tropical drinks made with fruits native to the island. The beach bar's resident parrots join you for drinks and are happy to make friends with you. Just soak up the sun, and maybe some local rum. Let us spoil you on a uniquely remote and beautiful island resort!

Kayaking:

Sailing and canoeing:
Sail a Hobbie Cat or paddle the canoes and chart you own adventure from the beach of the hotel!

Hiking:
Removed from confines of civilisation, guests can roam the miles of unspoiled beaches and lush mountains covered with jungle fauna and birds, Hike into the National Forest area of Guanaja and explore untouched waterfalls and dense forest inhabited by tropical birds, lizards, and wildlife. Visit Indian archaeological excavations and the new Columbus Museum.

Fishing:
Fishing charters are available for offshore excitement or try your hand at flats fishing for a whole different experience!

Snorkelling:
Snorkel right off the beach in clear, calm waters on the virgin fringing coral reefs.

Diving:
Scuba dive in one of the most varied dive environments in the Caribbean. Bring a dive buddy, meet a dive buddy, or learn to dive with one of our experienced instructors.

SCUBA REVIEW COURSE:
If you haven not been diving for a while (long surface interval) and you would like to refresh your memory and your diving skills, this course is for you. During one discussion session we review basic diving theory and usage of dive tables. We review basic diving skills and buoyancy control. After completion of these skills we make an open water dive with the instructor from the boat.

RESORT COURSE:
If you are not a certified diver, but you would like to see the reef and experience what scuba diving is all about, try this easy course. First we discuss basic diving theory in an informal, easy-to-understand format. You learn some simple diving skills that will make your first diving experiences easy and very enjoyable. This course includes 2 open-water dives with your instructor. All of your equipment is included for this class.

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE:
There is no better place to take your full certification course than here in our warm, tropical waters. This course includes all phases of training required for Open Water Certification. This involves academic and ocean diving during your training program. This course is structured in an easy, informal manner. All diving equipment, training materials and certification fees are included in the cost of this course.

OPEN WATER REFERRAL:
If you completed all but the Open-Water phases of your training already, you can make your Open-Water training dives here with us. Upon completion, you will be certified as an Open Water Diver. All you need is to bring your Student Referral Form and a copy of your medical statement. We accept Student Referrals from all of the Major dive certification agencies: PDIC, YMCA, SSI, MDEA, PADI, NAUI, CMAS,

ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE:
If you are interested in how to night dive, deep dive or sharpening your underwater navigational skills, then this course is for you. This course consists of three "core" dives: night, deep, and navigation. Then two additional specialty dives. For example, many divers choose "multi-level diving", underwater photography and wreck diving. All training materials and certification fees are included in the cost of this course. You will need your diving equipment, a compass, cyalume stick, underwater dive light and an underwater camera and film if you are interested in taking underwater photography.

RESCUE DIVER COURSE:
This is a must course for anyone who wishes to continue their diving education towards more professional goals such as Divemaster and Dive Instructor. Others may be interested in this course for the special knowledge and experience they gain. This course consists of academic, Open-Water training in diver rescue and practical boat diving techniques. All training materials and certification are included in the cost of this course.
