Five hundred years ago, the great discoverer Christopher Columbus arrived at a tropical paradise he named Bocas Del Toro in the western Caribbean coast of what is now Panama. Overwhelmed by the most incredible contrasts of vivid colour and sheer unspoiled natural surroundings Columbus decided to drop anchor and immerse himself in this heavenly place. Not much has changed since that pristine time with the exception of the provocative Calypso beat, the constant smiles of the people and the alluring island accent of the Caribbean inhabitants. Bocas is the best place to sink your toes in the white sand, to explore lush tropical rainforests and coral reefs and to look for the faithful sea turtles that have come to these islands for millennia.

The Itinerary

Day 1: PANAMA CITY - BOCAS DEL TORO - BOCA DEL DRAGO TOUR
This morning we are picked up at our hotel in Panama City and transferred to Albrook domestic airport to board the scheduled flight to the town of Isla Colon, capital of Bocas del Toro province. After checking in at the Bocas Inn we will receive a briefing on the activities that will take place during our trip. Today we will drive along the coast of Colon Island to visit one of the largest bat caves in the country. Along the way we will search for monkeys, sloths, birds, caimans, turtles and view the rainforest with some of its magnificent ancient trees. Once at Boca del Drago we will have the opportunity to snorkel from the beach to the coral reef that is just a few meters from shore. After lunch we will have an afternoon of beach at Big Creek. Day 2: BASTIMENTOS MARINE NATIONAL PARK.
This morning we board our boat bound for Bastimentos Marine National Park where we will be able to snorkel along coral reefs and see stunning Queen Angels, Fairy Basselets, Rock Beauties and Four-eyed Butterfly fishes. We will also snorkel along the archipelago of tiny clear-water mangrove islands where the marine inhabitants are protected during their infant stages. We will return to the hotel for a delicious lunch. Afterwards we continue our adventure to Red Frog Trail in search of the tiny strawberry frog (or red frog --Dendrobates sp.). Night at BOCAS INN (BLD)

Day 3: BOCAS DEL TORO - PANAMA CITY
This morning we will enjoy more mangrove snorkelling along Manawar Key, a nesting area for the Magnificent Frigate bird and some reef snorkelling at Nancy's Key, in Hospital Point. After another delicious Caribbean style lunch we are ready to come back to Panama City. On arrival to the city we are transferred back to our hotel. (BL)

Note:
Weight restrictions apply to luggage in both commercial and chartered flights within Panama. A maximum of 25 lbs. of checked luggage per person is allowed. Arrangements can be made at the hotel to store luggage that will not be needed. Excess baggage charges assessed by commercial carriers are the responsibility of the passenger.
