Right in the heart of South America, Paraguay, an intriguing country still out of the main tourist tracks jealously hide matchless wealth and a rich natural environment protecting several animal species on the way to extinction. The subtropical climate allows you to enjoy outdoor activities throughout the year. It has 6.000.000 inhabitants and covers an area of 406.752 square kilometres.
Paraguayan people and culture is the result of the encounter between the Hispanic and Guaraní civilisations. The latter successfully preserved an heritage visitors can discover through their rich folklore and their handicraft of great cultural and human value. The official language is Spanish, but most of the people speak Guarani, an Indian language also used by the ancient Jesuit priests.
Thanks to its proximity with Brazil, Paraguay is a natural extension of your Brazilian or Argentinean holidays. Old and magnificent Jesuit Missions and colonial style Estancias are just a few hours drive from the Iguazu Falls.
Nature lovers will enjoy the western part of the country, the Chaco and the Pantanal, wild lands of forests, savannahs, swamps, mighty rivers and native villages, and one of the least visited region of South America.
