Rafting the Urubamba River through the Sacred Valley of the Inca is a rush into the hearth of nature and past. The emotion of rafting through the tranquillity and ancient remains that spread along the Sacred Valley, remain forever in the mind of the river adventurer.
The Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco - Huambutio - Sacred Valley
Early morning, we pick you up at your hotel in Cusco and drive to the put-in at
Huambutio/Andahuaylillas (Sacred Valley). After preparing and boarding our rafts, we begin
by running down the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley till the take-out point at the San
Salvador section. From here, we drive to Ollantaytambo and stay the night in a hotel or in camp (L).
Day 2: Ollantaytambo Rapids - Sacred Valley
After breakfast, we drive to the second rafting section, close to Ollantaytambo to
scout the conditions of the class III rapids on our schedule today. We return to a nearby
beach to prepare and board our rafts. Hearth-thumping excitement is the keynote of our
descent down the river that awaits us to challenge our skill and co-ordination.
After a lunch by the river, we visit to the ancient ruins of Ollantaytambo. By evening, we
return to Cusco (B L).
General Information
We also organise a one day Class II rafting journey on the Urubamba. Prices upon available upon request.
Rated: Moderate. Class II and III rapids, no previous rafting experience necessary.
