Mochima National Park

"Venezuela"

Parc national de Mochima - Caraibes - Venezuela Nestled between the bustling Beach Resort of Puerto La Cruz and the colonial city of Cumana, the first town of the American continent founded in 1521, Mochima National Park is one of the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. Spreading both inland and seaward, its name in the native language means "abundant waters". Exploring the tortured coast, you discover more than 30 wild islands, scores of remote creeks, unspoiled beaches for yourself alone and a coloured seabed. The land part of the park offers a great diversity of landscapes from thick lush forests to the dry impenetrable forest of cactus. Various picturesque fishermen villages scatter the coast. Wildlife is best represented by sea birds, iguanas, monkeys, parrots, venisons and foxes for example. Puma and tapirs are scarcely seen.
Mochima is a little paradise for those who enjoy lonely beaches and are nature lovers. Many of the best beaches are hidden away but with our guidance you have them all to yourself.
This is also a privileged destination for diving: coloured fishes, coral reefs, wrecks, underwater thermal springs……

Situated on Punta Majagual, a private peninsula on the shores of the Caribbean in the Gulf of Santa Fe. It has a beautiful privileged setting, decorating in the best of taste, impeccably maintained. 12 rooms in 6 bungalows, all rooms with private bath, hot water, screened windows and doors, ceiling fan, porch. Extra 2-store house for the social and dining areas. The upper level is a huge caney with 360 view plus hammocks, rattan seating groups, and bar. In the lower part you find the dining area and living area. Lush garden surround the buildings. Various paths have been cleared to facilitate nature walks around the peninsula. One of these leads down to a large deck with canvey which extends out over the water.
Activities:
From the small sun deck there is good snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming. Exploring the natural trails of the Peninsula is quite rewarding. At additional charge, we can also arrange diving and boat rental to explore the park, visit remote beaches or go in search of dolphins.
